The Image Lab

One photo, every treatment. Drop an image and see it through the exact duotone filters and grades that ship inside every Taliesin spec — the recipes below aren’t previews, they’re the deliverable.

Place
Volcanic rock, desert flora, copper patina, canvas stretched over redwood.
Time of day
Deepest dark. Maximum density earned.
Season
New growth. Serif headlines, cool-green undertone, yellows brighten, greens hold weight.
Weather
Crisp edges, full visibility. No effects.

Crop & composition

Hero 21:9Bottom third — the desert floor holds the frame; sky is negative space, not subject.
Band 3:1 — full-bleed permitted; text stays inside the grid.
Detail 4:3Off-center on the leading grid column. Nothing centered except a lone saguaro, and then deliberately.

Art direction — Sonoran Desert

  • · Volcanic rock walls — the aggregate reads at every scale
  • · Saguaro against open sky, isolated, sculptural
  • · Light through stretched canvas — the original diffuser
  • · Copper patina, petroglyph texture, ironwood grain
Light: Raking low sun. Hard shadow is material truth — never fill it.
Clear: Clear: raking light, hard shadows welcome. Shoot when the sun is low — the datum line falls naturally.

Why executable treatment

A spec that says “duotone in the accent over grayscale” is asking an AI coding tool to art-direct from prose. This page — and section 3d of every downloaded spec — replaces the sentence with the artifact: an SVG filter whose table values are computed from the same tokens as the buttons and borders, a numeric grade, and a crop grammar. Storm crushes the blacks. Fog lifts them. Dusk drifts the accent cool. The land is still the language; now the photographs speak it too.

Copy the recipe above, or download the full spec — the treatment ships inside it.
